What's in the name ?

Over the last 15 years or so that the MX-5 had been in production motoring journalist and the like had herald the MX-5 as a true Icon, therefore is was very fitting that Mazda should call a limited edition the "Icon". Mazda have released a limited edition "Icon" twice before, firstly in 2000 and secondly in 2005.

General Icon Specification Details

The Icon is based on a Standard 1.8 and 2.0 respectively.

Details of the extra equipment fitted to make this limited Edition are listed below.

Following the success of the new MX-5 in the UK Mazda thought it appropriate to release there new limited edition in Red, White and Blue.

The Icon features a unique limited edition "Icon" plaque mounted above the side indicators on the front wings, 16" alloy wheels with Yokohama tyres, and the style bars are accented with chrome.

Mazda have given the interior a luxury feel with medici heated leather sports seats with "Icon" stitched into the head rest.

Other luxurious items include climate controlled air conditioning and a CD player with six speakers capable of playing MP3's recorded onto compact disc.

Interestingly this is the first MK3 that has been available in white for the UK market, in fact it is the first white MX-5 that has been available to the UK market for about 10 years, as the MK2 (1998-2005) despite being sold else where in white was left of the colour chart in the UK. It certainly makes a change to see white back again, thank you Mazda.

A reasonably high specification car with a very attractive price, The MX-5 really has become such an "Icon" that all other manufactures can only envy Mazda of its success, there really are no decisions to make when buying a new roadster only perhaps will it be Red, White or Blue.
