What's in the name ? |
It is unsure why Mazda decided to name a limited edition MX-5 "Isola",
but the Italian the word Isola reefers to an island, to be an island the
land needs to stand out on its own and be isolated, maybe Mazda believed
the MX-5 stood out and is on its own with no competition. |

General Isola Specification Details |
|
|
The Isola is based on a Standard 1.6 |
|
|
Details of the extra equipment fitted to make this limited Edition are
listed below. |
|
|
The Isola was probably one of the least equipped limited edition
that Mazda have produced. The Isola was only available in one colour
"Classic Red" and limited to 500 cars.
14" Alloy wheels were fitted as standard instead of the steel wheels
that the 1.6 equivalent standard car came with at the time, this greatly
improved on the overall look of the car.
As part of the limited edition features unique Isola exterior badges
were applied to the exterior paintwork. |
|
|
One of the Isola strongest selling points was that it
came with a hardtop as standard, which many customers would normally
purchase with the MX-5 as an option for around £1500.
Baring in mind that the standard 1.6 in 2000 cost just over £16,000 the
Isola made a lot of sense with alloy wheels and a hardtop there was a
potential saving of just under £2000 to be had. A good
buy second hand but make sure the seller includes the hardtop. |
