General Montana Specification Details

The Montana is based on a a standard 1.8i

Details of the extra equipment fitted to make this limited Edition are listed below.

Finished in either Garnet Red or Racing Green the Montana was a very special edition MX-5 in the way it looked and the way it was equipped.

The specification list put the normal top of the range 1.8iS to shame and featured the likes of air conditioning and a factory hard top as standard, which would normally could cost about £1000 for air conditioning and about £1500 for the hard top.

Although the 6 speed gear box and sports suspension was left off the specification list which was standard on the top of the range Sport.

Other external standard features included front fog lights which again was an expensive £350 option normally, 15" alloy wheels which had been supplied by Mazda on the MX-5 since about 1998 but still looked the part. When the hard top was not installed the owner could raise and lower a cloth (mohair) roof which would normally would be of a vinyl finish.

The interior was just simply stunning with tan heated leather seats, tan carpet, a wood rimmed steering wheel, handbrake grip and gear shift. Other classy touches included chrome door handles, chrome around the speaker grills and a wood effect trim on the centre console

Probably one (if we do not include the new 3rd Generation Limited) of the highest specification MX-5 ever made and certainly one of the nicest to look at.

I strongly feel that Mazda were hoping for as much success as they had with the limited edition Icon in 2000, as the colour scheme and feel to the car was very similar, but that is no bad thing ,as the Icon was truly an amazing car and so it is true with the Montana.
