  What's in the name ? The "Phoenix" was named after a place in America, Mazda released several other Limited Editions named after places in America, for example the "Nevada and the Arizona"

  General Phoenix Specification Details
  The Phoenix is based on a Standard car.
  Details of the extra equipment fitted to make this limited Edition are listed below.
  The exterior was kept mostly standard with the exception of Unique Enkie alloy wheels with 195/50/15 tyres.

The interior featured sienna brown leather heated seats, black/sienna brown 2 tone leather Nardi steering wheel, black leather gear knob and hand brake grip,  extra 2 tweeter speakers for the CD player usually only on the top of the range 1.8iS, aluminium centre console trim, rev counter/speedometer and vent rings.

Special mats were also supplied (although at extra cost) in black with matching brown edging.

The 1.8 car also had a torsen limited-slip diff as standard which was not fitted to the 1.6 version.
