  General SE Specification Details
The SE (Version 1) is based on a standard 1.6 car.
Details of the extra equipment fitted to make this Limited Edition are listed below.

Only available in brilliant black with SE badging and ABS to the rear only.

The car was fitted with 10-spoke 7j x 15 polished alloys with locking wheel nuts and low profile 215/45/ZR15 tyres

ABS was fitted as standard. The interior was trimmed with tan leather, deep pile carpets, wooden steering wheel, gear knob and handbrake, stainless steel kick plates.

The SE was a true retrospective look at the sports cars of yesteryear and really caught the imagination of the public, Mazda were soon inundated with demands to continue this theme of car. So popular in fact that they produced another SE (2nd release) the following year.

Mazda quoted "The MX-5 SE provides a rich selection of additional features, providing a rare opportunity for the privileged few to own and drive one of the most individual cars on the road today"

While the SE looked stunning it was a high maintenance car not mechanically but cosmetically, Black paintwork has always been known for its difficulty to keep clean and shows every slight mark and scratch. The alloy wheels also needed to be kept clean as these were a polished finished and without regular cleaning would corrode easily.

That said very few cars on the market today look as good as a SE when it has been cleaned and polished.

If you find a good condition SE and the price is right grab it quickly before somebody else beats you to it, these are very hard to find cars. Also check the wheels for condition as these are no longer available, although if not badly damaged could be reconditioned.
